A gothic chateau in Normandy is a boutique-sized charming and unique property which was once a Michelin-starred hotel and restaurant. In the main house are 7 en-suite bedrooms, 3 reception rooms plus an event room to seat 45 for weddings and celebrations. In addition, the large outbuilding which was a carriage house has two one-bedroom cottages which just require finishing. The landscaped grounds run to around 1.7 hectares (4+ acres).
The area of Suisse Normandie with Clecy as its capital, is an absolute anomaly in the Normandy region as it is set alongside a deep river gorge (river Orne) where the landscape offers a natural playground in the form of all watersports, rock climbing, paragliding and of course horse riding and hiking. The local competition in terms of accommodation is of an underwhelming standard and indeed we bought the property on the basis of setting up a boutique hotel and events centre.
